Its sweet victory for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC- after the Court of Appeal gave the greenlight for Dubai based Al Ghurair printing firm to proceed with the printing of presidential ballot papers. The reprieve was granted after a five judge overruled an earlier decision by the High Court ,that had stopped the firm from printing the papers, and ordered IEBC to advertise the tender afresh citing lack of public participation. But in its verdict the court of ruled that IEBC had followed the law in awarding the contract , and should therefore continue with preparations for the 8th August election and faulted the lower court for only annuling a section of the contract and failing to consider IEBC's tight timelines.

Tonight, Dubai-Based company, Al Ghurair Printing and publishing, has begun printing presidential ballot papers for the August 8th General election, shortly after the court of appeal overturned an earlier high court decision stopping the printing of the documents. In a unanimous ruling, five appellate judges faulted the high court ruling saying the trial court had failed to factor in the limited time left before the election when it ordered the electoral commission to retender.
